Hostels

The College has separate hostel facilities for about 440 boys and 210 girls. The boys' hostel is located at the college premises, in several blocks. The hostel runs a mess with a modern steam-operated kitchen, food is steam cooked and vessels are steam-dried to ensure adequate hygiene. A separate TV room and reading room are provided in the Boys' Hostel.











Initial deposit amount for admission in hostel has to be made. Hostel seats are limited and the allotment of seats is done based on the need of the candidates.

The girls hostel is also located in the campus.

 

 

Library and Information Centre

Library, being one of the very important organs of the system, is the centre of all activities on the Campus. The centre is equipped with over 60,326 volumes covering all branches of Science and Engineering, Encyclopaedias, Dictionaries, Hand Books, Data Books etc. It has adopted open access system and maintains author, title, subject and series catalogues to provide multiple access to the stack. It also has a fairly good collection of ISI specifications, Project Reports and Dissertations, Doctoral Thesis and Proceedings of Conferences and Monographs.

The centre is catering to the needs of the students, faculty and research scholars. Further library provides audio visual facilities, photo copying facilities, book bank facilities etc.

Seminar Hall

SJCE maintains a well-equipped Seminar Hall, which can accommodate 100 persons. Complete with Slide Projector, LCD & Overhead Projector, Sound System etc., it proves ideal for seminars, meetings, group use of audiovisual material, etc. Now the Seminar hall has been furnished with A.C and vertical blinds.

Physical Education

SJCE believes physical fitness to the students forms a part of education. So SJCE gives prominence for sports and physical education.

A well-equipped gymnasium with multigym facilities is available for daily exercises, which is kept open from 6 a.m. for interested students. A standard football, hockey, cricket ground, basketball court, tennis court, and volleyball courts have been maintained by the Department of Physical Education.

Outdoor and indoor recreation facility is available both during and after college hours, in its sports complex building. The sports council is conducting annual sports every year. Inter collegiate and VTU Tournament are also organised.

Health Care

A Health Care Unit has been provided on the campus with a qualified physician. The centre is supported with necessary equipment and medicines. The centre works between 10.00 a.m and 2.00 p.m on all working days.

Scholarships and Awards

SJCE offers scholarships and awards to deserved and eligible students for their future education and benefits based on their performance. The eligible students can apply for fee concession / scholarship in the prescribed application form available in the scholarship section.

The college has instituted Medals and Cash awards several endowment scholarships are also available.
